Kate Frank is a poet & performer based in Western Massachusetts &, as often as possible, her home state of Oregon. Kate is also a gemini, a dog person, & a vegan brunch expert. She holds a BA in poetry, performance & queer studies from Hampshire College. Her poems have appeared in online & print journals, & been performed on stages across the country, including at NPS 2010. She’s a former co-host of the Hampshire Country Slam Collective, and was on their 2010 CUPSI team, which won Best Writing. Most recently, she performed in The Joy Experiments, a site-specific solo show at Hampshire College (which is in the process of being re-imagined as a touring show). Kate also conceived of and produced the play, which was adapted in collaboration with Esme Rodriguez Vaandrager from poems Kate had written. Esme also acted as director, art director and choreographer.
In addition to her work as an artist, Kate is a trained writing workshop leader, certified in the Amherst Writers & Artists method. She has worked at Amherst Writers & Artists for the past three years, & is presently exploring the world of non-profit arts administration further, serving as a summer intern at CALYX before returning to AWA in September. Kate is available for performances, commissioned work, writing workshops & more. She can be reached at: katekatefrank at gmail dot com. Feel free to email just to say hello, too! Kate is especially interested in being contacted by people who like to eat waffles and watch Parks & Recreation, as well as those who like to go hiking right after it’s rained.
